Various parts of country have been rattled by a powerful earthquake late Friday night including Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Nowshera, Gilgit, Swat, Muzzafarabad, Peshawar, North Waziristan, Malakand Agency, Dir, Chitral and many more areas, private TV channel reported.
Cracks have appeared in houses and buildings sending a strong wave of fear among people, witnesses said. No loss of life or property has been reported so far. However, due to the torrential rain underway in the tribal belt, the rescue teams are facing hardships to determine losses in north-west of the country.
AFP adds: A strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region of north-eastern Afghanistan on Friday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. The epicentre of the quake, which struck at a depth of 200 kilometres (124 miles) at 11:51 pm local time (19:21 GMT), was 75 kilometres (46 miles) south-south-east of Faizabad and 265 kilometres (164 miles) north-east of Kabul, the USGS said.
