Weather becomes pleasant in Punjab

After an extraordinary hot, rainy and humid weather for past six months, there is now a perceptible pleasant change in the weather after a significant decrease in temperature in the plains of Punjab. There were widespread thunderstorm and light rains at the fag end of the monsoon season during the past forty-eight hours, which dropped the maximum temperature to 33 in the province.
The fall in the mercury also decreased electricity demand about 3,000 MW in the country as people have stopped use of air-conditioners. According to a Pepco report, total generation of electricity on Saturday was 12,442 MW as against the demand of 13,114 MW. There was a shortfall of 672 MW in supply and demand whereas Pepco supplied 710 MW electricity to KESC. According to Met Office weather report, maximum temperature 33.0 degree Celsius was recorded in Bahawalnagar and lowest minimum temperature 16 C was recorded at Islamabad on Saturday in Punjab.
Minimum and maximum temperature in Lahore was recorded 20.C and 32.5 C, respectively while humidity in the city during the day was about 70 percent. The highest maximum temperature in Pakistan 39.5 Centigrade was recorded at Lasbela and Turbat whereas lowest minimum temperature 4 C was recorded at Kalam, PK. In Lahore, as the weather has become moderate, people in large numbers have started going to parks and picnic spots.
