China is trying its best to help flood-hit Pakistan and hopes people could rebuild their homes as soon as possible, Chinese Defence Minister Liang Guanglie said here on Monday. Liang, also a state councillor, made the remarks during his meeting with a Pakistani military delegation headed by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Norman Bashir.
'Liang said China is providing within the realm of its capability support and assistance to Pakistan. China's military has sent medical teams and rescue helicopters to Pakistan to help with relief efforts in flood-hit areas. The Chinese government, military and people are fully aware of what the Pakistani people are going through. Liang expressed the wish that people in the disaster-hit area could rebuild their homes as soon as possible. He said that the China-Pakistan relationship was one of China's most important bilateral ties.
Regarding Chinese people as Pakistan's true friend, Bashir said that the all-weather friendship between the two militaries has endured the test of time. Pakistan would like to deepen bilateral co-operation that benefits people of the two countries. Admiral Noman said Pakistan and China enjoy all weather and time tested friendship. The two countries would continue to work towards strengthening bilateral relations and co-operation between their armed forces.
"Pakistan and China are trusted strategic partner, close friends and good neighbours", he added. He thanked the Chinese government and the people for providing timely and substantial relief assistance for the victims of the floods.
