Director General (HRM) Federal Board of Revenue (Inland Revenue) Ms Raana Seerat has called upon the officers of the Board to marshal all resources to work selflessly and collectively for attaining the ideals of our organisations, and for ensuring the future prosperity of the country by adopting the principles of dedication, commitment and consistency of purpose.
She was speaking here on Monday at the inaugural ceremony of an orientation course 'train the trainers' of income tax, sales tax and Federal Excise being arranged by the Directorate of Training (DOT-Inland Revenue). Ms Raana Seerat, Director General (HRM) expressed the confidence that they would train a batch of selected officers to become first-class trainers. It is important for them to first capture the content and essence of what they are taught. Secondly, they need to reflect upon what they learn-adding their own ideas, thoughts and experiences to the content. The next step will be to teach the material and to encourage their colleagues to share their own views and perceptions with the trainers, she added.
She further said that our country is in the grip of an economic crisis and this has increased our challenges manifold, both with reference to the achievement of our budgetary targets, as well as the institution of Inland Revenue, and the implementation of a new policy framework.
Abdul Wadood Khan, Director General DOT (Inland Revenue) Lahore speaking on this occasion said that the Inland Revenue Service recognised the need to develop a select band of senior officers to act as trainers as far back as August 2009. Four Orientation workshops were conducted and the most eminent people in the field were engaged as resource persons. The response that it got from both quarters-Income Tax as well as Sales Tax, was overwhelming positive.
He further said that we have made efforts to further improve our training modules for income tax, sales tax and federal excise. In order to enhance the intellectual depth and quality of this orientation programme, we have engaged highly acclaimed and well recognised resource persons, all of whom have in depth knowledge of law and practical field experience. Senior Officers of FBR (Inland Revenue) from different RTO and LTUs were also present on the occasion.
