Pakistan Peoples Party ministers from Punjab and the party's Central Executive Committee will hold meetings with PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively in the Presidency to discuss major issues especially possible changes in the party both in central and provincial level.
Well-placed sources in the party told Business Recorder that top leadership of the party has decided some major changes in the party, adding that important decisions are likely to take place in the CEC meeting in this regard. The sources said decisions including appointment of a new Central General Secretary and new president of the PPP in Punjab would be taken in forthcoming meeting of the CEC.
They said in today's meeting, the party leaders of Punjab would discuss latest political situation of PPP and other issues relating to the province. They said that Punjab PPP leaders may also present complains of party workers to the President in the meeting.
They said speculations about change of government and moving no-confidence motion against the prime minister will also be discussed in the CEC meeting. However, PPP leaders are terming these meetings as routine business. They said current political situation in the country and flood relief activities would be discussed in the CEC meeting.
According to a handout issued from the Presidency, Presidential Spokesman Farhatullah Babar said the core committee of PPP would meet Wednesday in the Presidency to discuss current political situation. The meeting will be presided over by President Asif Ali Zardari, he added.
The Central Executive Committee of PPP will meet on Thursday in the Presidency with Co Chairman of the Party President Asif Ali Zardari in the chair. The meeting will deliberate on current political situation and flood relief and rehabilitation measures. The CEC meeting is part of the consultative process in the party to examine challenges and discuss the possible options to deal with problems.
