Boom Boom Afridi comes out in support of Umar Gul
Pakistan former captain Shahid Afridi is eyeing to revive international cricket career of Umar Gul, after the fast bowler was selected in Afridi’s Pakhtoons squad for the upcoming T10 League in UAE.
“I don’t know when Gul last played international cricket but he has been active in league cricket, where I have seen his performance,” Afridi said in an interview to local media.
According to Afridi, Gul has contributed a lot for the country and he wants to support him. “I know his [Gul] career struggled after the injuries, but I believe that I should support him as a senior and help him return to international cricket,” Afridi added.
The fast bowler was once considered the leading spearhead and a pivotal member of the Team Green, however, his international career suffered a setback due to injuries.
Gul, one of the leading wicket takers in 2009 T20 World Cup, which was won by Pakistan, also missed on the Pakistan Super League (PSL), after suffering a fractured forearm.
