A constitutional petition was filed before the Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking contempt of court proceedings against former Federal Minister for Defence Production, Abdul Qayyum Jatoi for passing derogatory remarks against judiciary and Pakistan Army.
The petition, filed by Advocate Muhammad Safdar Shaheen, also sought action against the respondent under article 6 of the constitution for high treason and his disqualification as member of the national assembly under article 62 of the constitution. Advocate Shaheen said the respect and dignity of both the judiciary and army is highly valuable for every citizen and what the minister said has hurt everyone.
