Former Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir and President Peoples Muslim League, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has demanded Pakistan government to convene All Parties Conference (APC) to show solidarity with the people of Occupied Kashmir. Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Monday, he also criticised UN Secretary General Ban-ki Moon and US President Barrack Obama for their 'dilly-dallying' attitude towards the latest atrocities of India in Held Kashmir.
"Statement of UN Secretary General is quite obscuring where he said violence in the Occupied Kashmir should come to an end," he said, adding, "It is also a pity that US President Obama did not utter a single word for the oppressed Kashmiris in his UN speech."
Barrister Mehmood blamed ineffective role and double standard of the UN, conspiring mindset of Indian rulers and political instability and repeated army interventions in Pakistan for the delay in resolution of Kashmir issue. He also lashed out at former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) for his detrimental proposals to resolve Kashmir issue with India, such as division of Kashmir, withdrawal of armed forces, self-governance on both side and joint control of the valley by the Pakistan and India.
He said these proposals shook the very basis of Kashmir movement, causing irreparable loss to it. Former AJK premier saluted the Kashmiri leadership for not surrendering to Indian temptations and urged Pakistan government to invite all political parties on one platform to voice the rights of oppressed Kashmiris. He mentioned there are a few vibes that Jamaat-e-Islami is making efforts to convene an APC, saying these efforts are appreciable.
