The health department has taken steps for timely promotion of Medical Officers (MOs), a spokesman of the health department said here on Thursday. The health department would also recruit staff including nurses to overcome shortage of staff in hospitals.
He further said that the department has prepared tentative seniority list of medical officers working on regular basis (BS-17) in the medical colleges, hospitals, autonomous institutions and in the offices of the Executive District Officers (Health) etc. The list has been sent to all the heads of the Medical Superintendents of hospitals, principals of medical colleges and EDOs.
According to the spokesman, the tentative seniority list contained 1426 names of the doctors, who have been directed to check their seniority position and other particulars entered in the list.
In case of any error/objection, they can make representation to the Section Officer (South), government of the Punjab health department, through proper channel with documentary proof for correction, if any, within 20 days from the date of issuance of the seniority list. After the expiry date of the said period seniority list will be considered as final for the purpose of promotion of medical officers/demonstrators to the rank of Senior Medical Officers in BS-18.
The tentative seniority list can also be seen on the website of the Punjab health department www.dghs_punjab.com.
The spokesman said that in order to overcome the shortage of nurses in the government hospitals, the health department has issued appointment orders of 507 nurses for the posting in different government hospitals of Punjab.
The candidates who were interviewed in June 2010 have been appointed. The newly appointed nurses have been directed to collect their appointment letters from the office of the Secretary Health Punjab during office hours. Moreover, the Medical Superintendent, Lady Aitcheson Hospital Dr Shagufta Zaidi has said that the Gynae units of the hospitals are smoothly working under the supervision of Professor Dr Samia Malik.
