Punjab Zakat Council has decided to distribute Rs 1.5 billion out of the provincial Zakat fund among the flood-affected people of the province through 'Watan Card Scheme'. This was decided at Punjab Zakat Council meeting, presided over by its chairman, former Justice Mian Allah Nawaz, here on Thursday.
The council decided that each flood-affected family would be given Rs 10,000 on the recommendation of Punjab Relief Commissioner who will maintain record of the distributed funds. The council noted that the Markazi Zakat Council would also provide Rs 10,000 to each flood-hit family, thus they would get Rs 20,000 in total of Zakat fund to meet their immediate needs.
