The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a procedure for utilisation of funds for functioning of the Centralised Sales Tax Refund Office (CSTRO). According to the FBR notification issued here on Thursday, in the light of the decision taken in the meeting of Board-in-Council of FBR, the CSTRO has been established under rule-27 of Sales Tax Rules, 2006 issued through Sales Tax General Order No 37 of 2010.
Najeeb Qadir, Director (R&S) may be assigned additional charge of Chief (CSTRO) who will report to Member (SP&S). A notification in this regard is required to be issued by the Management Wing. The Sales Tax and Federal Excise Treasury of RTO, Islamabad along with its staff and officers may be notified to the treasury for CSTRO and may be directed to report to Chief (CSTRO). However, the officers and staff of the treasury will continue to draw their pay and allowances from RTO, Islamabad till further orders. A notification in this regard is required to be issued by the Management Wing. The Chief (CSTRO) will utilise existing funds of Directorate of R&S for day to day operations of CSTRO till the time a new requirement for funds is submitted by him and approved by the competent authority, notification added.
