Another consignment of sugar import by Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has arrived on Thursday. According to detail MV "UNICORN 1" carrying 7,000 tons sugar has berthed at KPT and started discharging from 28-09-2010. While two more ships, MV "INDIAN FORTUNE" carrying 20,000 tons and MV "CAPE YORK" with 20,500 ton are scheduled to arrive on October 2, 2010 and October 6 respectively.
TCP will have an additional stock of about 47,500 tons imported sugar adding to existing stock of 215,000 tons bringing the total to 262,500 tons. TCP besides, supplying imported sugar to USC, CSDs and Provinces, would be off-loading 50,000 tons in the open market as per directive of the ECC of the Cabinet.
Two tenders are issued for a minimum of 50 MT and a maximum of 500 MT, scheduled to be opened on October 4 and 7. The sale of sugar in open market will further improve the current supply position.
