Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik, has issued directives to the FIA authorities to launch an anti-corruption campaign in all the lucrative departments of the Federal Government. He was presiding a meeting here Saturday to discuss the issues of human trafficking and 'Hawala business' (money laundering). The meeting was attended by the Director General FIA and all zonal directors.
"An anti-corruption drive will be launched to collect declaration of assets of officers of BS-19 to BS-22 of lucrative departments and of all the cadres of federal government and a report will be submitted to the Ministry within two weeks," according a statement issued here after the meeting. Referring to the meeting, it said that an intelligence unit has been established within the FIA to report any internal involvement of any FIA Officer/Official in any alleged case of human trafficking or Hawala business.
In addition, probe will also be initiated and report will be filed within 30 days against FIA's gazetted officers facing already pending complaints. On the occasion, the DG FIA was directed by the minister to compile a data about the performance of all FIA officials so that their future promotions could be linked to their performance.
It was noted in the meeting that cases of human trafficking was on the rise and some influential people were also involved in this business. The directors of FIA were directed to adopt zero tolerance policy to save the name and prestige of the country. The meeting also decided that help of other intelligence agencies would also be sought to weed out the black sheep in the FIA.
