Federal government is actively considering establishing Product Development Centre (PDC) for composite-based sports goods industries of Sialkot. Official sources told APP here on Saturday that the objectives of setting up the product development centre was to facilitate sports goods industry to cope with emerging technology of composite material and enter into the largest segment of sports goods export.
Sialkot is globally known as a producer of quality products in sports goods, surgical instruments, leather garments, gloves and accessories and musical instruments etc. Local craftsmen make immaculate products while export-oriented entrepreneurs ensure that the products reach international destinations. The proposed PDC will help and prepare the local industry to aggressively enter the international market of composite based sports goods. The centre will provide technical know-how, trained workforce, testing facilities and prototype development services to the sector, sources added.
