The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF), has finalised flood victims' rehabilitation plan, amounting to Rs 38 million, in order to enable the farming community to grow crops and fodders for their livelihood. This was stated by Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice-Chancellor of UAF, while addressing the relief goods dispatching ceremony organised by the Faculty of Agriculture at Hall Warden Office here on Sunday evening.
He said that the UAF has planned to rehabilitate agricultural sectors of specific areas by providing agricultural inputs, instruments, seeds and agronomic expertise as well as advisory services for livestock management. He added that 12 truckloads of livestock fodder, human medicines worth Rs 0.5 million, crockery, clothes, 800 pairs of shoes, 7000 pure drinking water bottles, 500 flour bags, sugar packets, pulses and other grocery items worth Rs 4 millio would be distributed among the registered flood victims of 3000 families residing near Chenab River in Attharahazari Area.
Giving details of second phase, Dr Iqrar said that UAF has prepared 6000 maunds wheat seed to be distributed among the flood victims while 3000 packets of vegetable seeds, 3000 packets of Barseem fodder seed, 3000 school bags and other implements would be handed over to 3000 families of specific identified area.
He reiterated his commitment for the rehabilitation of the flood victim farming community and said that UAF would lay no stone unturned for the purpose. He lauded the efforts of teaching and administrative staff, students and campus community as well as donors for materialising relief package in an enthusiastic manner. Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr Muhammad Ashfaq, Hall Warden Dr Muhammad Amjad, Dean, Faculty of Agri Engineering Dr Niaz Ahmad, Principal Officer PRP Dr Muhammad Jala Arif and others attended the ceremony.
