A delegation led by former UK parliamentarian Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here on Tuesday and discussed relief and rehabilitation of the flood- affected people. According to an official, the Chief Minister informed the delegation about the rehabilitation of flood affectees and construction of modern villages in the affected areas.
He said the donor conference organised by the Punjab government in Islamabad has produced positive results and a large number of philanthropists, international agencies and welfare organisations announced to construct houses for the flood affected people. Construction of modern villages has been started in seven different sites in Punjab, he added.
Meanwhile, provincial parliamentarians presented cheques for Rs 1.55 million for the relief and rehabilitation of flood affectees to the Chief Minister at the provincial parliamentary party meeting. MPAs Chaudhry Muhammad Asad Ullah presented a cheque for Rs 1 million, Manzoor Cheema Rs 500,000 and Manzoor Chanioti presented a cheque for Rs 50,000 to the CM.
