Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association's Chairman Chaudhry Masud Ahmed, Vice Chairmen Nawab Shehzad Ali Khan (North zone), Mian Rashid Mehmood (South Zone) vowed to safeguard the rights, privileges and benefits of ginners in all cases and said, "we have rejected the Reformed GST describing it unjust, unfair and extra burden on the national economy.
Talking to newsmen after taking over the charge of their offices the other day Chaudhry Masud Ahmed said that RGST was in fact value-added tax with new name. An old wine was being presented in the new bottle to hoodwink the traders, ginners as well as manufacturers and shop keepers.
He threatened to launch a countrywide agitation if the VAT or RGST was introduced. He demanded that Government should announce a rehabilitation/revival package for the ginners of flood hit areas and relief must be granted to all ginners so that they could be survived. He said that Government should not impose flood surcharge and surcharge on income. The newly elected body expressed their confidence in the leadership of Haji Muhammad Akram chairman of Pakistan Ginners Group.
