Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) handed over 600 bags of flour and other eatables to Pakistan Army here on Wednesday. It was the 7thconsignment as the PIAF had already dispatched 6 consignments including flour, ghee, sugar, rice, dry milk, pickle, dates, biscuits, tea, roasted grams, dal channa, salt, red chilli, candles, match boxes, water bottle and a tent, for the flood affected people.
Chairman PIAF Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Vice Chairmen Iqbal Baig Chugai, Kh Shahzeb Akram, LCCI former President Mian Anjum Nisar and members of PIAF Executive Committee were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman PIAF Irfan Qaiser Sheikh informed that PIAF had already dispatched 900 bags of flour and eatable goods for 900 flood-affected families of Gilgit-Baltistan, 900 cartons of eatable goods, 2400 bags of flour and 1000 water bottles for Leyya, Rahim Yar Khan and DG Khan flood victims, 200 cartons of eatable goods, 1200 bags of flour and 500 water bottles for Chiniot flood victims and 450 cartons of eatable goods, 1200 bags of flour and 500 water bottles for Kohistan flood victims.
He said that all segments of the society would have to join hands for early rehabilitation of flood affectees as the devastation scale is beyond estimations and the government alone cannot cope with it. He said that more relief goods would be dispatched to five other destinations in coming days. He said the PIAF was arranging food supplies, clothing, medicines and tents from the funds it was collecting from its members and truckloads of these supplies would be dispatched to all parts of the country. He said the PIAF office-bearers and its Executive Committee would personally supervise the distribution of relief goods.
He thanked the business community for extending maximum co-operation to their brothers and sisters. He said that PIAF would continue its efforts for the rehabilitation of flood-hit people and restoration of economic activities in flood ravaged areas.
