Following the directives of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Regional Tax Office (RTO), Rawalpindi has launched awareness campaign in the remote areas like Pind Dadan Khan, Khura etc to educate taxpayers on e-filing of returns to encourage voluntary compliance.
In this connection, a delegation of senior officers of Regional Tax Office (RTO), Rawalpindi, headed by Shahid Anwar Khan Chief Commissioner RTO Rawalpindi on Wednesday visited Tax Facilitation & Collection Centre Pind Dadan Khan. Sources told Business Recorder here on Wednesday that the RTO has focused on broadening the tax-base by encouraging taxpayers to use facility of e-filing even in remote areas. The e-filing facility would end the direct interaction between the taxpayers and the department facilitating the new taxpayers.
The delegations met the officers of Inland Revenue of TFCC Pind Dadan Khan, Chakwal and Jhelum and evaluate their performance regarding tax facilitation and facilitation to the taxpayers. The Chief Commissioner also inaugurate the KIOSIK Centre at P.D Khan and advised the officers to open maximum KIOSIK Centres at main business places with the co-ordination of trade bodies and business community so that maximum people realise their national responsibility to file income tax returns.
Muhammad Afzal Malik Officer Inland Revenue P.D Khan gave presentation about the performance of TFCC P.D Khan. The delegation also heard the problems of the local taxpayers in filing of returns etc and issued instructions on the spot to resolve their issues.
Later talking to media, Chief Commissioner RTO Rawalpindi highlighted the importance of e-filing facility and timely payment of taxes, which would also help the taxpayers to obtain refunds. He also talked about the ongoing reforms in the tax administration and role of automation in speedy filing of returns by the taxpayers. He particularly pointed out the electronic refund system, active taxpayers list and facilities to the compliant taxpayers under reforms.
The RTO Rawalpindi delegation comprises Shahid Anwar Khan Chief Commissioner, Muhammad Siddique Commissioner (Enforcement), Ms Rakhshanda Aziz Babar Commissioner (TFD), Riaz Hussain Shah Additional Commissioner (Enforcement) and Kashif Manzoor Malik Deputy Commissioner(HQ).
