Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has appreciated the outgoing Swiss Ambassador Markus Peter for considerably strengthening Pak-Swiss bilateral ties. Talking to the Swiss ambassador who paid a farewell call here at the PM House after successful completion of his tenure of duty in Pakistan, Gilani said the bilateral ties between the two countries strengthened considerably as a result of Ambassador's contributing efforts.
He said Switzerland emerged as one of the main investor and trading partner of Pakistan during the four years tenure of Ambassador Markus Peter in Islamabad. The Prime Minister said Pakistan attached high importance to its cordial ties with Switzerland and wished to expand the existing co-operation in multifaceted fields.
He welcomed the Swiss interest in joining the Friends of Democratic Pakistan Forum as a full member and assured the Ambassador that his government would take the required measures to facilitate Switzerland's participation in the forthcoming FoDP Ministerial meetings in Brussels next week.
The Prime Minister wished every success to the outgoing Ambassador in his future pursuits and hoped that he would continue to contribute towards Pakistan and Swiss relations even in his future capacity. Ambassador Markus Peter thanked the Prime Minister for his government's full co-operation to him and his Embassy during his very fruitful tenure in Pakistan.
He described his stay in Islamabad as one of the most gratifying and eventful tenure of his diplomatic life and expressed the hope that co-operation between the two countries will expand further in the future and the government of Pakistan will extend the same co-operation to his successor for furthering the mutually beneficial relations even in the future.
