Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussein, said that despite all difficulties, the provincial government would implement the decisions of the democratic government made under the 18th Constitutional Amendment in letter and in spirit.
Chairing a meeting of the Oversight Committee on the implementation of the 18th Constitutional Amendment, he said that due to floods, all our machinery was busy in the relief activities and the issue was temporarily stopped for some time. Now, the situation is better, therefore, the committee will focus on completion of its task, he maintained.
The meeting was also attended by the committee's members, Minister for Law Barrister Arshad Abdullah, Secretary Administration Hifz-ur-Rehman, Secretary Law Badshah Gul Wazir and Secretary Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Mushtaq Jadoon.
Due to recent devastated floods was held after an interval of two months thoroughly discussed the post scenario of the 18th Constitutional Amendment and abolition of concurrent legislative list and deliberated upon its legal financial and administrative aspects besides the additional responsibilities to be devolved to the province.
The meeting was told that on the directives of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, preparations were underway for taking over the additional responsibilities and would complete its task within the deadline. However, the meeting expressed anguish over the lukewarm attitude and lack of interest of some quarters in providing required information of the devolved departments and decided that the matter would be brought into the notice of the Implementation Commission headed by Senator Mian Raza Rabani through this forum. It was told that the provincial government was well aware of its responsibilities and constitutional obligations and was doing its work, but the delaying tactics of the said quarter were against the spirit of the 18th Amendment.
