Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) in collaboration with major donations from Muslim community of USA and Canada has so far completed projects worth Rs 600 millions in different parts of the country affected by the October 8, 2005 earthquake.
Fazal-ur-Rehman, country Director HHRD said this on the occasion of fifth anniversary of devastating earthquake here on Thursday. He said that HHRD would continue physical rehabilitation projects in the earth quake areas with the same spirit, adding that they would mainly focus in the next year's projects on the reconstruction of the educational institutions and treatment of handicaps, besides assisting the orphans. Fazal said that construction of a hospital complex in Manshera would be completed by next year. This project is for the rehabilitation of physical handicapped people, wherein artificial limbs would be prepared and physiotherapy services will be provided.
He further said that HHRD also started different projects in the flood devastated areas across the country, adding that eight field hospitals set up by HHRD started working in 8 district of flood affected area. He said that the devastation triggered by flood was of gigantic magnitude, however, "we should not forget the earthquake affectees and extend every possible support to steer them out of the trouble water."-PR
