The District Relief Committee of Hyderabad has recommended that the villages of Taluka Latifabad should be included in the relief net announced by the provincial department, and National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) management directed to register families of these villages for issuance of Watan Cards and other concessions.
District Relief Committee of Hyderabad gave this recommendation in its meeting presided over by MNA Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote on Monday evening at Shahbaz Hall, Shahbaz Building Hyderabad. The committee directed Nadra management to further expedite ongoing registration of IDPs in Hyderabad and ensuring that not a single IDP misses registration and right of financial assistance.
In the meeting, chairman of the committee Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote, Sindh Minister for Fisheries, Zahid Ali Bhurgri, MPA Wasim Ahmed and other members took serious note of the allegations levelled by a political worker that the district government has failed in taking care of the IDPs.
They condemned the statement and lauded the efforts made by the government in protecting Hyderabad from floodwater and hosting thousands of IDPs since last month in a good manner and doing whatever humanly is possible. The committee also praised district government for evolving a mechanism for initiating registration of IDPs and providing Watan Cards to them in a transparent manner. They condemned the elements that, according to them, are creating unrest among the IDPs through propaganda, rumours to serve their nefarious designs.
They said IDPs registration process in Hyderabad is running better than other places. It was decided that the concerned political worker would be served notice of explanation for violating party discipline and used the platform of media rather than that of his party.
Addressing the meeting, Sindh Minister for Fisheries, Zahid Ali Bhurgri pointed out that Nadra management has made record registration of 2,500 as compared to the targeted number of 1,000 IDP family heads in a day by working late at nights. He claimed that due to transparent and speedy system of registration, IDPs from neighbouring districts rushed to Hyderabad to avail the facilities.
Bhurgri advised Nadra management to establish separate counters for registration of IDPs belonging to other districts so that load from other counters established for IDPs in Hyderabad could be reduced. In his remarks, chairman of the committee MNA Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote directed DDO (Revenue) to provide transport facilities to the IDPs intending to return back to their native places. He directed the revenue officers and Nadra management to expedite pace of registration work and issuance of Watan Card and try to complete it within two to three days.
Waseem Ahmed, while speaking on the occasion, said district government Hyderabad is working in a good way while dealing with the affairs of IDPs. He also lauded the performance of district police, Rangers, Nadra and other stakeholders for extending help to the IDPs in the city. Earlier, EDO (Revenue) Syed Barkat Ahmed Rizvi, while briefing the meeting, said as many as 26,000 heads of IDPs families have been registered till date and out of them, Watan Cards have been issued to 12,000 heads of families. He said that the pace of registration work has been intensified and hopefully, the process would be completed within the stipulated time.
