A Qatari philanthropist organisation would undertake rehabilitation and reconstruction work in one of the flood-affected districts of Pakistan. This assurance was given during President Asif Ali Zardari's meeting with a delegation of a charitable organisation from Qatar, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, on Tuesday.
While appreciating the assistance extended by the government and people of Qatar, the President said people of Pakistan greatly value feelings and gesture of their Qatari brethren. He appreciated assistance by the country during recent devastating floods, especially those made by Qatar Red Crescent.
About Pak-Qatar bilateral relations, the President observed that real potential of it needs to be translated into expanded co-operation between the two countries in all the fields, especially economic, commercial, investment, manpower and energy sectors.
Zardari stressed the need for encouraging contacts between the business communities of the two countries for promoting co-operation in energy, infrastructure, information technology and construction sectors. He added that it is heartening to learn about the valuable contributions of Pakistani community in Qatar towards the country's economic and social development.
The delegation members thanked the President for meeting them and assured that they would continue to work for promoting bilateral co-operation between the two countries. Qatari delegation comprised Sheikh Ali Bin Abdullah Bin Thani Al Thani, Chairman Pak Qatar Takaful General, Sheikh Khalid Bin Thani Al Thani, Sayyar Al Maawdah, Ambassador of Qatar, Hamad Al Hanzab, Ex. Ambassador of Qatar and Abdul Basset Al Sheeby, CEO Qatar International Islamic Bank. From Pakistan side, M. Salman Faruqui, Secretary General to the President, Malik Asif Hayat, Secretary to the President, Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar and other senior officials participated in the meeting.-PR
