Parts of Pakistan receive first winter rain, snowfall
Various parts of Balochistan, including Ziarat and Quetta, received on Monday first rain and snowfall of the winter season, bringing the mercury down and making the weather extremely cold.
The snowfall was recorded between 1-2 inches in hilly and plane areas,” said Azmat, the Balochistan forecast director.
Rain was also reported in Mastung, Kalat, Gwadar, Naukundi, Taftan, Chaman, Naseerabad, Mizai Adda, Loralai, Kohlu, Harnai, Daki, Dera murad Jamali, Gandawah, Jhal Magsi, Musa Khel, Sibbi, Lehri, Sanjavi and Qilla Abdullah.
Apart from extremely cold weather, rain has also caused problem for the residents of the area. Many areas faced power outage for several hours.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, more rain and thunderstorm with snowfall on hills is expected at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Islamabad, upper Punjab including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Sargodha divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dense foggy and smoggy conditions are likely to subside in plain areas of Punjab.
