Watan Cards distribution stampede: Zardari announces compensation for aged victim
A compensation of Rs 500,000 was announced by President Asif Ali Zardari for an aged flood victim Bahawal Jamali who died during Watan Card distribution stampede at Nawabshah said DCO Nawabshah.
The aged Bahawal Jamali, a resident of Wahi Pandhi district Dadu was killed when flood victims fell on each other during baton charge and aerial firing by police which went into action as flood victims rushed to get the cards. Ten others had received injuries and were admitted at Peoples Medical College Hospital.
District administration has also announced Rs 100,000 for the heirs of deceased Bahawal Jamali and Rs 25,000 each for seven injured persons. On the other hand police again baton charged flood victims gathered at Nadra counter for registration and to receive Watan Card. The baton charge resulted in injury to one Qasim Panhwar.
