Despite tall claims of putting in place adequate arrangements to check spread of dengue virus, as many as 45 new cases of dengue fever were reported in Lahore during the last 48 hours, raising the total number of such cases in the city to 161 out of total 215 cases in the province.
Three doctors of Mayo Hospitals have also tested "positive" of dengue fever, of which two have been discharged after necessary treatment while one is still under treatment. The situation is aggravating in Lahore, as stagnant water along-with plastic bottles and garbage is lying unattended in different areas. On self-help basis, Lahoriites have started adopting measures to keep their environment neat and clean.
When contacted, a spokesman of Health Department Punjab confirmed that 45 new cases of dengue fever were reported in Lahore during last 48 hours, raising the total number of such cases in the city to 161.
