"More than ten percent of all women will be stricken with breast cancer during their life time. Despite this high number, large deficits exist in knowing about this disease and about early detection examinations", says Herrmann Requardt, CEO of Siemens Healthcare Sector.
In connection with October, the international breast cancer awareness month, Siemens has started a world-wide campaign to increase the public's understanding about breast cancer. The objective of this campaign is to heighten the awareness for this disease so that more women use the means available for early detection."
Inline with the Siemens worldwide initiative to promote breast care awareness, Siemens Pakistan in collaboration with Al Razi Healthcare Lahore, conducted Breast Cancer Awareness Lectures at Royal Palm Lahore for creating widespread awareness about Breast Cancer. Pakistan has the highest rate of breast cancer for any Asian population. Every year 93,000 women are diagnosed and 40,000 women lose battle to this disease. Early diagnosis of breast cancer increases a patient's survival by more than 90 percent.
Chief Executive Dhabi Group, Bashir Ahmed Tahir said, "Mothers play a vital role in educating their family and creating that awareness". CEO Al Razi healthcare, Dr Osman Bashir Tahir said, "At Al Razi Digital Mammogram, Breast Ultrasound, and Open Bore MRI with special breast coil can detect the breast cancer at earlier stages. We also have a 'Women's Health Clinic' in which a lady doctor carries out a breast clinical examination. If a surgery is needed, we have Reconstructive Plastic Surgeons, who can perform any kind of breast surgery, be it a non-cancerous lump or cyst, to a total breast reconstruction after breast cancer removal". Dr Noreen Zafar - renowned Gynaecologist discussed the risk factors for breast cancer in detail and strongly urged the women to have annual wellness checks, to ensure that any problems can be picked up at an early stage along with regular health screenings. -PR
