Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Education Abid Sher Ali has said that he would write a letter to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) demanding disqualification of those Parliamentarians who have failed to provide documents required for degree verification and submit their assets' details.
Talking exclusively to "Business Recorder" on Tuesday, he said, "Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is using delaying tactics on the issue of fake degrees, which is regretful. That is why we are mulling over different options in this regard. We will file a petition in the Supreme Court if the ECP does not take appropriate action."
Abid Sher Ali said that he would write a letter to ECP to take instant action against those Parliamentarians who did not provide required academic documents to Higher Education Commission (HEC), which delayed the degrees verification's process. When contacted ECP, the official told Business Recorder that there is no importance of the letter. He said that ECP has already written a letter to the Supreme Court of Pakistan pertaining to the degrees verification's problems being faced by the ECP, seeking directions from the apex court in this regard. We are waiting for the reply to implementation the court's directions.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Education met on Tuesday at Parliament House under itss Chairmanship Abid Sher Ali. The Committee was told about the action on the irregularities done in the Federal Directorate of Education, as pointed out by the Committee in the previous meeting. It was told that four Deputy Directorates have been posted back to their original grades.
The Chairman constituted a Sub-Committee under convenership of Dr Nadeem Ehsan to look into the issue of irregular done in the appointment of teachers and submit its report within three weeks. While discussing Pakistan Academy of Letters Bill, 2010 another sub-committee has been constituted under convenership of Shakeela Khanam Rashid to review the Bill and submit its report within three weeks.
