Service Sales Corporation (SSC), largest footwear company of Pakistan by revenue, started retail operations in Kenya. SSC entered into African market with the opening of a shoe outlet in Nairobi through its wholly owned subsidiary 'Service Shoes Africa Ltd' on October 6, 2010.
The launching ceremony of Service Shoes Africa Ltd was attended by the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Kenya, Masroor Ahmed Junejo, representatives of Kenyan government, large gathering of local businessmen, bankers, and media personnel. Omar Saeed, CEO SSC, while addressing the occasion said, "Our vision is very simple-to be among the top two footwear companies of Kenya in the next two years. We will build our business aggressively while maintaining the same ethical values that have been the hallmark of the Servis Group over the last 50 years."
Omar also commented, "we hope to make a very good name for Pakistan and SSC. We would like our company to open the doors for more Pakistani companies in Kenya". On the occasion the High Commissioner of Pakistan commented "Servis is known for quality footwear and I am happy that the company has expanded internationally".
Detailing the operational direction of the initiative, Salman Basharat, COO Service Shoes Africa Ltd said, "The company is investing $2 million in the initial phase of this project and plans to open 10 retail outlets in next 12 months. This retail expansion is in addition to the already established wholesale network across Kenya and East Africa. Looking at the initial response from the consumers the company is not far away from achieving its desired objective."
Kenya operations are a further extension of international footprint of SSC. SSC currently has more than 400 outlets nation-wide in Pakistan with the brand name Servis and is also the parent company behind Servaid Pharmacy, Soul Collections, and Shoe Planet - all leading retail initiatives in their respective domains.-PR
