The Government of Japan extended a grant of 105,819 dollars (approx. Rs 9.1 million) to Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation for the Blood Bank Project in the Nazeer Hussain Hospital (NHH) in Karachi, Sindh, under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). The agreement was signed in Karachi by Masaharu Sato, Consul General (CG) of Japan, Karachi and Syed Mustafa Kamal, Managing Trustee of Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF).
The Grant will be utilised for the purchase of the blood bank equipments to help more local people access safe, high-quality and affordable blood-related treatment. The equipments, which will be purchased under this contract amount to 26 high-performance items including Automatic Blood Cell Processor, Blood Analyser, Incubator, Serofuge, Microscope, Blood Bank Refrigerator, Freezer, etc.
The Consulate General of Japan sincerely hopes that this project will help upgrading of the living condition of the local people, and also wishes that this support from the people of Japan will strengthen the present amicable relationship between Japan and Pakistan.
At the handing over ceremony, Masaharu Sato, Consul General, said that the better implementation of this project will surely be a driving force for better medical treatment in this area of Karachi, and that it will be inspiring to see the residents enjoy better standards of living.
Since 1989 the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad, on behalf of the Japanese Government has been accomplishing more than two hundred GGP throughout Pakistan. The Consulate General of Japan, Karachi, in 2009 carried out the first GGP successfully. In 2010 the Consulate is making another effort by commencing the fourth GGP to contribute the development and welfare of the people of Pakistan, especially in Sindh province.-PR
