Appointments of blue-eyed persons: LHC issues notices to federal secretaries, chairman FPSC
The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Wednesday issued notices to federal secretaries law and manpower & overseas and chairman Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) for November 11 in a petition challenging appointments of blue-eyed persons and officials made by federal government inside and outside the country.
The court passed this order in a petition filed by a citizen Engineer Muhammad Ilayas who through his counsel contended that Umar Maharvi, who is considered to be a close friend of the President Asif Ali Zardari, has been given the slot of Director general protector immigration. He said wife of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) education minister Sindh Pir Mazhar ul Haq has been appointed as labour attaché in London.
He said these appointments were not made on merit rather done on whims of president and other government functionaries. He said country is already facing extreme financial crunch and such appointments would put extra burden on national exchequer. He, therefore, prayed to the court to set a side these appointments being in violation of law.
