'Kaizan' is very important and imperative for everybody in this world, and it can help Pakistan achieve many of its goals and objectives. These views were expressed by Japanese Consul General in Karachi, Masaharu Sato, at the certificate distribution ceremony of a two-day training programme on "5s, Kaizan & Visual Management."
Sato said the Kaizan technique is applicable to anybody and any area, and helps individuals improve their careers, while corporations and industries can improve and enhance their services and product output. He said that by learning and adopting the principles of Kaizan, Pakistan can enhance its exports and standing in the comity of nations.
He expressed hope that the participants had found the training programme useful and that it would help them improve their lives. The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) representative, Yasumi Suzuki, said to date AOTS had organised two training programmes in collaboration with Pakistan Japan Business Forum (PJBF) and intended to conduct more such programmes.
He said AOTS is a non-profit Japanese organisation, developing programmes for training all over the world, especially in developing countries. He added that Kaizan is very essential in understanding economic and technical as well as cultural matters, and Kaizan means promoting harmony.
He pointed out that it would prove to be very beneficial for Pakistan as the country was putting a lot more emphasis on trade and export. He added that it would help participants in the services sector and manufacturing to better understand technical and manufacturing issues as well as cultural matters which were also very important. The PJBF Chairman Abdul Kader Jaffer thanked the Japanese government for its help in organising the training programme through AOTS, which, he said, would bring great benefit to Pakistan, and help raise the standard of its human resources.
He said he had spoken with some of the participants, and they were of the view that more such programmes be held as it would greatly benefit Pakistan's management and manpower. Kader Jaffer said one of the objectives of the PJBF was to develop bilateral trade and trade relations. He added that most of this just concluded training programme's participants were already associated or involved with Japanese companies and this training would prove very helpful and beneficial to them.
The PJBF chairman thanked the Japanese experts for organising such training programmes for Pakistani professionals, and suggested that the AOTS registered office be shifted from New Delhi to Pakistan as Pakistan needed the Kaizan programme much more than India. He also requested the Japanese Consul-General to encourage more training sessions and more facilities for Pakistan, as the country needed it to enhance its capabilities, productivity and trade. The Japanese expert, who conducted the training, Genji Tanaka, said he had found the programme participants very friendly which facilitates the trainer as it helps to interact more with the participants.
He said the Pakistani participants had shown they had high capabilities which proved that they possessed a high level of intelligence. He added that the action plan developed by the Pakistani trainees was excellent, and that they would be an invaluable asset to their organisations. He wished them well in their future endeavours.
The JETRO Country Director in Pakistan, Kaoru Shiraishi, said human resources was the main component of a good and thriving economy, and Kaizan would help increase productivity which meant more exports and prosperity for Pakistan.
The Vice Chairman, Majyd Aziz, who conducted the proceedings and gave vote of thanks, said that all training programmes that had excellent teamwork were successful and this training programme had proved a great success. He said the PJBF would hold more such programmes in future and train more Pakistani professionals.-PR
