People from different walks of life met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday and presented cheques for Rs 7 million for the relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people. According to an official, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan gave Rs 1.5 million, Mukhtar Hussain Rs 5 million on behalf of Pakistan Steel Rolling Mills Association and Chaudhry Tipu Sultan, Iqbal Gujjar, Haji Amjad Tabassum and Iqbal Dogar gave Rs 500,000.
Appreciating the humanitarian spirit of the donors, the Chief Minister said the Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the rehabilitation of flood victims and construction of model villages equipped with the latest facilities has been started in place of devastated villages. The donations of the philanthropists are being spent on the construction of model villages.
