The Azad Kashmir Day was celebrated in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and FATA here on Sunday with great enthusiasm and zeal, with a pledge to continue political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiri brethren till their self-determination. The people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and tribesmen of FATA celebrated the 63rd day of the Azad Jammu Kashmir.
Different functions and ceremonies were held to highlight the importance of the momentous day. Centre Commandant Brigadier, Syed Shahid Ali offered prayer after laying a floral wreath on the Yadgar-e-Shahuda Azad Kasmir Regiment Centre Manser Camp on the eve of Yum-e-Azadie-Kashmir.
A smartly contingent of army presented solute and guard of honour to the yadgar Shuhada Azad Kashmir. The officers and jawans also offered prayer for the departed souls of the martyrs.
The religious, social and political organisations arranged special programmes to highlight the importance of the day. The Speakers said that it was the most important day in the history of South Asia when people of Azad Kashmir stood against India that had tried to suppress the brave Kashmiri people and occupy Jummu and Kashmir through gun-point.
However, the people of Azad Jummu and Kashmir had frustrated the nefarious designs of Indian Army by forming its own government with its first President Sardar Muhammad Abrahim Khan on this day.
The speakers highlighted the heroic struggle of Kashmiri martyrs in their struggle for self-determination and held their sacrifices in high esteem. They urged the world community, USA and UNO to play their active role by implementing the UN resolutions on Kashmir.
