Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has started consultation on his 25-year Charter of Pakistan in order to develop national consensus to save the country. Talking to senior journalists during his visit to the office of South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) here on Thursday, he pointed out that it was decided in the meeting that another meeting will be held within next 3-4 days to consider Charter of Pakistan.
Nawaz also held consultation with the media men on his proposed Charter of Pakistan and said in the present difficult situation this agenda could provide solution of problems posed to the country. He said: "It is his desire that all stakeholders should sit together and come out after chalking out 25-year agenda under Charter of Pakistan."
During the meeting, Nawaz exchanged views on internal and external threats posed to the country and future strategy in this regard. The PML-N Quaid said: "Charter of Pakistan is the name that I give to the proposed 25-year agenda in which all the stakeholders would have their say."
He was of the view that a unanimous strategy would be hammered out for the good of the nation, while everyone needs to play due role to put the country on the path of progress and prosperity. "Every one including army should have to play their due role to steer the country out of present crises while no body must claim as sacred cow," he added.
Nawaz said that those who violated the Constitution are in and outside the country while the country could be run effectively after getting rid of past mistakes. He said that political parties, army, judiciary, civil society and media should take into consideration proposed 25-year agenda. Answering a question, Nawaz called for giving due respect to the ballot for the sovereignty of parliament and the Constitution. When his attention was drawn towards the efforts being made for merger of different faction of PML, Nawaz asked, "Is it so, who is getting the parties merge?"
To another query, the PML-N Chief welcomed the statement of President-elect Supreme Court Bar Association regarding supremacy of Constitution. Nawaz further said that every body needs to be given due respect and there must be consensus on national issues. He added that proposed 25-year agenda given by the opposition is in the country's interest.
