The Central Shoora of the Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan has accused the government of pushing the country into a blind alley because of its bad governance, corruption, confrontation with the judiciary to protect ill-gotten wealth and complete surrender to the US in every sphere.
Declaring the federal and provincial governments a complete failure, the JI central body exhorted all political and religious forces in the country to get ready for a struggle to regain the country's independence and sovereignty, the restoration of law and order, improvement of the national economy and provision of justice to the masses.
The Shoora, at its meeting with the JI chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, in the chair, charged the government of continuing Pervez Musharraf's anti-Pakistan policies that had already ruined the country in every sphere, destroyed law and order situation and spread terrorism to every part of the country. The distance between the masses and the armed forces had increased and the enemy had got an opportunity to wreck peace in the country under the garb of terrorism.
The recent US-Pakistan Strategic dialogue clearly indicated that the only objective before the rulers was to beg for dollars for which they could even put national solidarity at stake. It noted that the US demands, especially, for military operation in North Waziristan, were increasing besides many times increase in its drone attacks, the Shoora said. The JI Shoora condemned the government's attitude of ridiculing the judiciary and confrontation by open violation of important decisions of the Supreme Court and said this was detrimental to the interests of the nation and the country.
The JI Shoora termed the government policy towards India as totally opposed to national interests and dignity and said that the real issues between the two countries were being ignored in the name of trade and confidence building.
It felt that the parliament had been reduced to a show piece. The 18th amendment, it said, had been a positive step but its important provisions were also being ignored. During the last two years, prices had been doubled while electricity tariff was being constantly raised under the IMF pressure and the masses were finding it difficult to pay electricity bills. Poverty had increased many times and people were being forced to commit suicides. Important national organisations such as Steel Mills, PIA and Wapda had become a burden on the national exchequer.
