Three bills, including The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2008, The State Bank of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2010 and The National Vocational and Technical Education Commission Bill, 2008 have been placed as first day's agenda items for passage in the forthcoming session of the National Assembly.
Sources in the National Assembly Secretariat on Friday told Business Recorder that a Calling Attention Notice of MNAs Muhammad Pervaiz Malik, Nisar Tanveer, Tahira Aurangzeb, Shireen Arshad Khan and Nighat Perveen has been placed in the agenda to invite attention of the Minister for Finance regarding non-initiation of tax reforms, re-organisation of government departments, and resolution of the problems of circular debt in the energy sector.
They said that the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Babar Awan, would also introduce The Islamabad Rent Restriction (Amendment) Bill, 2010 on the first day of the session on Monday, November 1 at 5:00 pm. They said that it was likely that the bills, including The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2008, The State Bank of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2010, The National Vocational and Technical Education Commission Bill, 2008 and The National Defence University Bill, 2009 would be passed during this session.
Sources said that the chairperson of standing committee on law, justice and parliamentary affairs Ms Nasim Akhter would present a report of the committee on the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill 2008, recommending further amendment to the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Sources said that Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi would brief the Parliament about the Pak-US Strategic Dialogue, recently held in Washington. Issues like Karachi target killings, Pak-US strategic dialogue, national security, drone attacks, price hike and others would be discussed in the House.
