Vaccination card for school admission: health department approaches Sindh Assembly for passage of bill

Sindh Health Department has approached provincial assembly for passage of a bill declaring vaccination card, prerequisite for admission of children to schools. Sindh Secretary for Health, Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi told journalists, following a briefing on Thursday.
The Secretary when enquired about the latest polio case in the province said more concerted efforts were required for polio eradication. "We on urgent basis have decided to launch a special immunisation campaign in the province, from November 8 to 10," he said.
In reply to a question, he said security issues has also been identified as a hindrance and therefore this time EDOs -health have been asked to contact Town District Officers (TDOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to ensure security of the vaccinators' teams in their respective towns.
The Health Secretary said all Executive District Officers (EDOs - Health) and Town Health Officers (THOs) have been warned of strict action in case their respective areas of jurisdiction fails to achieve 90 percent coverage rate. Dr Abdul Majid, Health Department's Consultant and other senior officials of the department were also present on the occasion.
