As elsewhere the Hindu community in Karachi celebrated the festival of Diwali on Friday night. Ceremonies in this connection were held in the main temples in the metropolis. On the occasion, prayers were also offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and its people. Sweets were distributed and the homes were decorated with candle lights and lamps.
The festivities would continue for three days. Greetings were exchanged through emails and SMS messages. The newspapers also published articles pertaining to the festival of Diwali.
