Like other parts of the country, the people living either side of the line of control observed the Jammu Martyrs day here on Saturday. On the occasion, the participants of the two rallies called upon the US President to include the issue of Kashmir in the agenda of his talks with the Indian leadership during visit to New Delhi for early resolution of lingering dispute between the two nuclear arch rivals in the region.
The rallies were taken out in this model city of Mirpur to commemorate the Jammu Martyrs Day, with pledge to continue the struggle for liberation of the occupied valley to bring everlasting peace in the South Asian region. The rallies were organised under the auspices of National Events Organising Committee and Jammu Welfare Society, with NEOC Chairman Muhammad Tayyeb Chaudhry and Convenor Khuram Pasha in the chairs.
Speakers including the Chairman NEOC, renowned Kashmiri educationist and eye witness of the tragic event of Jammu Martyrs Day of November 6, 1947, Professor Qayyum Qureshi, Secretary General National Events Organising Committee, President Press Club, Muslim Conference leaders, President Non-gazetted Employees Organisation, President MDA Employees Union, President Administrative Staff Association MUST, JI leader and others urged upon the international community including the US President to act upon his pre-polls commitment vis-a-vis the settlement of Kashmir dispute in the larger interest of the South Asian region.
The speakers said that J & K has become a nuclear flashpoint in the region following the continuation of this unresolved issue between India and Pakistan. They urged US president to coerce India for the resolution of the Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
They said that issue of Kashmir should be included in the agenda of talks with New Delhi during his tour with a special focus to ensure immediate solution in line with the wishes of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The speakers fully endorsed the unequivocal stance over the longstanding issue of Kashmir by Pakistani leaders including President Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
They urged India to give an immediate response to Pakistan's sincere efforts for early peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations of the J&K people. The speakers said that best way to commemorate the martyrs of J&K, is to continue their mission for the liberation of their motherland from the Indian subjugation.
Addressing the ceremony held under the auspices of Jammu Welfare Society Mirpur, the speakers urged the world community to take immediate notice of the continued Indian state terrorism in the occupied valley against the innocent peace loving Kashmiri people raising their voices for the liberation of their motherland. The speakers said that Kashmir freedom movement is in fact the movement for completion of Pakistan.
They called upon the world nations to perform their due role to get the right of self determination granted to Kashmiris, which India is denying for the last six decades. The day is observed every year by the Kashmiris to remember the sacrifices rendered by lakhs of inmates of Jammu people including men, women, children and elderly Muslims who were mercilessly slaughtered by the armed Hindu gangsters and Dogra military troops, while they were proceeding for migration to Pakistan near Jammu-Sialkot working boundary. Earlier, the day dawned with special prayers in all mosques for the early liberation of the occupied J&K and progress, prosperity and stability of Pakistan including Azad Kashmir. Fateh Khawni was also offered for Kashmiri martyrs.
