The district health department would set up one window operation system in DCO office for issuance food licences to the applicant without delay. This was decided during a meeting, which held here with DCO Naseem Sadiq in the chair. It was also decided during the meeting that the special awareness campaign would be launched to sensitise the business community dealing in sale and manufacturing of food items for following the relevant law and policies.
The DCO directed the health department officers to constitute 8 teams comprising health department doctors and their allied staff for distributing the food licence application forms in the four towns of the city and 4 tehsils of the district. He expressed his concern over the delay of issuance of food licences and complicated departmental procedure in this regard and directed that the applicants should be facilitated for issuance of food licences and proper information and guidance should be given to them through one window operation.
He said that the edibles could not be left unchecked and the business of the sale and manufacturing of food items should be brought under relevant law and rules and regulations in a legal organised manner. He said that due to non issuance of food licences, the loss of receiving food licence fees is causing to city district govt. and trend of adulteration was also increasing due to non availability of proper mechanism to check the food licences.
The DCO advised the health department officers to hold meeting with the Anjuman Tajran, Anjuman Karyana Merchants, Dairy Farms Association, Sweets and Backers Association, Confectioners, hotels and restaurants owners, manufacturers of food items and others stakeholders to guide and informed them regarding issuance of food licences.
