Rising trend was evident in Irri 6 Sindh, gur, yellow peas, wheat chemicals and raw rubber, while other commodities seen in low profile owing to uncertainties during the week ended on November 6, 2010.
On the week opening day wheat old with bardana was quoted higher at Rs2635 new quality registered at Rs2650. Irri 6 Sindh recovered the losses and gained Rs25 to Rs3350 and Rs3375, barley Sindh and Mardan shed Rs50 to Rs2550 and makai was quoted at Rs2550. Cottonseed oil cake with bag low type shed Rs10 to Rs1250, while better quality conceded Rs5 to Rs1275.
On Tuesday commodities on the wholesale markets tended lower. Such as moong Punjab was lower by Rs1000 to Rs8500 due to steady arrival. Gur low type however, was exception, which rose by Rs100 to Rs6300, while the other type was unchanged at Rs7000. Guwar Sindh low type shed Rs50 to Rs3900, while the other type stayed unchanged at Rs4000, guwar Punjab also conceded Rs50 to Rs3800, while the other quality was quoted at Rs3900. Bajra low type shed Rs 100 to Rs2200, while the other type lost sharply by Rs700 to Rs2400. Cottonseed oil cake with bag low type was put at Rs1250, while better type pushed higher by Rs5 to Rs1280. Castorseed Lasbela was down by Rs100 to Rs2300 and Rs2400, the same item from Sindh conceded Rs100 to Rs1900.
On Wednesday traders felt the pinch of high prices keeping even retailers away. On the gram side yellow peas Canada rose by Rs25 to Rs3075 and Rs3225, Irri 6 Sindh scaled down by Rs50 to Rs3300 and Rs3325. Gur low type lost Rs100 to Rs6200. Rapeseed cakes rose by Rs20 to Rs880 and Rs890, while cotton cakes with bag rose by Rs20 to Rs1270 and Rs1300.
On Jodia Bazaar chemicals (per kg) caustic soda flakes Saudi was quoted at Rs41 and DDBSA rose by Rs2 to Rs140, Rangolite 'C' (per pound) China rose by Rs7 to Rs88, India rose by Rs6 to Rs90, acetic acid Taiwan rose by Re1 to Rs80, Hydrogen peroxide descon 50pc rose by Rs10 to Rs55, Korean tpc quoted at Rs51.20 and Thailand quoted higher by Rs8 to Rs54.
On Thursday raw rubber was noted higher at Jodia Bazaar (per lb) merry rub equivalent to RSS3 ended higher by Rs5 to Rs165, RSSV rose by Rs5 to Rs165, Merry rub (equivalent to crape) rose by Rs5 to Rs180 and pale Crape TPC 3 rose by Rs50 to Rs230, Nerrylax (28kg) rose by Rs45 to Rs1120, Semnan Tex quoted at Rs1120, and pale crape TPC 3 quoted at Rs1120.
On wholesale commodity markets rates were seen almost at previous levels owing to non availability of transport as they were engaged in transportation of sacrificial animals as Eid-ul-Azha turned ahead. The less buying resulted in rates mainly holding. Only rise was marked in cottonseed oilcake, which rose by Rs10 to Rs1270, while the other variety was put at Rs1300. Gur shed Rs200 to Rs6200 to Rs6800, as the crushing date was ahead cautioning gur traders to sell stocks before new gur arrivals overtake market elbowing prices down.
On Friday not a single deal finalised on the wholesale grain and seed market on Friday as almost all the participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers. On Jodia Bazaar Ceylon raw rubber ended up. The changes were: CEYLON RAW RUBBER (Per LB): Merryrub (Equivalent to RSS3) closed higher by Rs 5 to Rs 165, RSSV moved upward by Rs 5 to Rs 165, Merryrub (Equivalent to Crape) went up by Rs 5 to Rs 180 and Pale Crape TPC3 moved higher by Rs 50 to Rs 230. LATEX: Merrytax (28 kg) finished up by Rs 45 to Rs 1,120, Semnan Tex was quoted at Rs 1,120 and Pale Crape TPC3 was quoted at Rs 1,120.
On Saturday almost all the commercial centres were closed in the city including wholesales grain and seed markets, as the slain MQM leader's funeral was held at Jinnah Ground after Zuhr prayers, while he was buried at Yasinabad graveyard.
