Punjab Inspector General of Police Tariq Saleem Dogar has directed the district police officers (DPOs) to take strict security measures on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and Muharrum.
He was addressing the meeting of regional police officers and DPOs of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sahiwal regions at Central Police Office on Sunday. The meeting reviewed the law and order situation and possible threats of terrorism, sectarian violence and crime and took important decisions for the improvement of preventive measures taken in this regard. While addressing the meeting, Dogar advised the police officers to hold regular meetings with the clerics of different schools of thought for maintaining peace in Muharrum, saying due weightage should be given to their suggestions for the promotion of sectarian harmony.
Dogar said that careful and realistic security strategy should be evolved for the protection of people's lives and properties and for this purpose, the instructions given by the Central Police Office should be implemented in letter and spirit.
