Federal Law Minister Babar Awan has said there is no need for Charter of Pakistan in the presence of 1973's Constitution. Talking to journalists at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore here on Monday he said, "The idea of another charter is a joke. The movers of the idea should rather work for strengthening the existing constitution."
It may be noted the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif is promoting the idea of Charter of Pakistan, a new political contract in country for next 25 years national planning. He also pointed out the Punjab government has failed to introduce price control measures to check soaring prices of essential commodities.
He said that sugar and chicken prices are on the rise but no substantial measures have so far been taken by the provincial government, responsible for controlling prices. Regarding US President Barrack Obama's statements on Kashmir, the Minister termed it as a proof of popularity of Pakistan's stance on the issue. According to him, several decisions were made in the meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI), which would soon be made public.
