Special Judge Central-I Rawalpindi Wednesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Chief Engineer Pak-PWD Central Zone Lahore Shahid Humayun and five officials in an alleged embezzlement of Rs 95 million by them as office bearers of Pak-PWD Employees Co-operative Housing Society Islamabad. The Judge issued non-bailable warrants as they failed to appear before the court even after repeated directions of the court.
President of the Society Shad Human who is also Chief Engineer Central Zone Pak-PWD Lahore was given a two- year contract after his retirement last month. Other officials who were issued non- bailable arrest warrants are Syed Shabbir Hussain Gillani (Joint Admin Officer D.G Pak-PWD office) Vice President, Syed Imdad Hussain Shah (Cashier Project Civil Division II, Islamabad) Finance Secretary and three Executive Members Muhammad Shafi, Abdul Karim and Muhammad Munir. Muhammad Akram Secretary of the Society appeared before the court. Margallah Police has registered an FIR against them under 420/468/409 and 471 on the complaint submitted by Assistant Registrar Co-operative Societies Department ICT Islamabad for their alleged embezzlement of about one hundred million rupees.
According to the FIR, the office bearers of the Society headed by Shahid Humayun finalised an agreement with M/s Super Property Dealers for the purchase of 800 kanals land for extension project of the society in Chak Beli Road Rawat, Rawalpindi. The accused issued three cheques worth Rs 95 million to the said Property Dealer and embezzled the amount with the connivance of the Dealer. The Police also submitted challans against the accused office bearers with details of the case.
