Mixed trend was witnessed on the currency market on Wednesday in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee shed 13 paisa against dollar for buying at 85.38 and lost 12 paisa for selling at 85.42, they said. In the third Asian trade dollar's sharp rebound hit turbulence, with the currency faltering near significant chart resistance levels and with precious metals, which had fallen sharply and given it a boost, starting to recover.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: The euro, which lost one percent on Tuesday as euro zone debt concerns pressured it, twice bounced off support at $1.3735 in choppy trade although its recovery was limited. Indian rupee was trading at Rs 44.31 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit was available at 3.0970 in terms of the US currency and Chinese yuan was at 6.6365 versus the greenback.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee, however, gained 25 paisa in terms of the US currency for buying and selling at 85.00 and 85.15, they said. The rupee also appreciated in relation to euro, gaining Rs 1.59 for buying and selling at Rs 116.23 and Rs 116.75, they added.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee remained unchanged on buying side against dollar, while it gained 10 paisa on selling at Lahore currency market on Wednesday.
According to dealers, the dollar commenced trading at overnight rates Rs 84.80 and Rs 85.50 for buying and selling and closed at Rs 84.80 and Rs 85.30 for buying and selling respectively.
The pound's buying and selling rates declined to Rs 134.50 and Rs 135.50 as compared to Rs 135.50 and Rs 136.50, respectively, dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 85.40 (buying) and Rs 85.50 (selling) against the rate of Rs 86.20 (buying) and Rs 86.30 (selling). It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.40 (buying) and Rs 85.50 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136.00 (buying) and Rs 136.20 (selling) in the morning session. It did not observe further change in the last trading hours and closed at Rs 136.00 (buying) and Rs 136.20 (selling).
