Challenges, opportunities of global marketplace: Pakistani students studying in US are well suited: Marilyn Wyatt

Pakistani students studying in the United States are well suited for the challenges and opportunities of the global marketplace, said Dr Marilyn Wyatt, wife of the US Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter. She was addressing an event held in connection with celebration of international education week organised by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) here on Wednesday.
The event was aimed at encouraging Pakistani students to pursue undergraduate education in the US. "Studying abroad fosters friendship and understanding among students of different countries and cultures, said Wyatt, adding that broad liberal arts education in the US differs from education in other parts of the world providing opportunities for scholarships.
The undergraduate event was targeted to high achievers young O/A Level and Intermediate students who have performed extraordinarily in their exams. The event gave the talented students of the twine cities an opportunity to meet and learn more about educational opportunities in the US.
Alumni from US universities also shared their experiences of studying in the US and how it had affected their approach towards life and work. Alumni represented their universities at more than 20 booths set up for the occasion, giving students and some parents a chance to learn more about particular US colleges and universities.
One of the booths was manned by Visa Officers from US Embassy on hand to answer questions about student visas. The officers emphasised that the US is eager and open to admitting international students from South Asia, particularly Pakistan.
