Provision of social protection and relevant benefits available to all workers of the country under EOBI Act 1976 and allied organisations like social security institutions and Workers Welfare Fund etc, is a constitutional binding on all government institutions and employers, said Zafar Iqbal Gondal, chairman Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution here on Thursday.
Addressing a meeting with Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufactures and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), Gondal emphasised the need to uplift the life standard of the workers who were truly backbone of our country's economy. He urged all employers especially those involved in the garments industry to insure all there employees with EOBI so that they and their families can benefit from facilities and monetary benefits available under the scheme. Muhammad Hanif, Director General (Operations) briefed the meeting on all aspects of EOBI scheme and the benefits of pension, grants, education and health facilities, foreign scholarship available to workers, their families and children on the basis of EOBI Registration Card.
Javed Chenoy, Zonal Chairman PRGMEA thanked Chairman EOBI and his team for thoughtful session, which would be shared with 1000 members of all Association. He assured that they will get all their employees registered with EOBI and other such institution in order to give some sort of genuine relief to the workers employed in garments manufacturing industry. The meeting was also attended by Javed Iqbal, Dy. DG EOBI, Regional Heads of Karachi, senior members of PRGMEA Managing Committee and Leading garment exporters.-PR
