Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for scientific and technical co-operation, besides strengthening scientific infrastructure.
On behalf of IIUI, Dr Anwar H. Siddiqui, President, IIUI and on behalf of PARC Dr Zafar Altaf, Chairman, PARC signed the agreement. Under the agreement both the organisations will undertake to pursue a programme of scientific, technical and academic collaboration for the exchange of ideas, skills and techniques.
According to MoU, initially both the institutions would cooperate following fields; exchange and training of technical personnel and material for research and internships; co-ordinated scientific research, technological development programmes in selected areas, exchange of scientific information, research material and internships; holding of joint conference, seminars, symposia and workshops at national and International level; access to knowledge, data, library and laboratories a the institution and establishment of the two parties; joint supervision of research students in selected areas of mutual interest; visit and use of each other's research experience and teaching facilities.
National University of Agricultural Sciences (NUAS at PARC) which yet is not a degree awarding institute would be affiliated with Islamic International University until getting the status of degree awarding institution. Furthermore the heads of both the organisations agreed to work on materialising the proposal for offering joint degree programme once the NUAS gets the status of degree awarding institute. The MoU will remain operative for five years and focal persons from both sides will monitor and implement the MoU according to terms and conditions agreed by both organisations.
